Another Great Hand Painted Replica
Red Tailed Hawk (Adult Male) Tail Feather
Hand painted by well known Missouri Artist.

 The Symbolism of Red-Tailed Hawks

The Red Tailed Hawk will soar beside the Two-Legged whose own gift of vision is exceptionally acute.
To accept this Totem, is to be acknowledged as a Guardian and Protector of the Earth Mother and all her Children. These are individuals who will possess an astute awareness of the interconnectedness of all things, and will have an inner reverence for all life.

Specific Details
Most Red Tailed Hawks are a deep brown while their breast area is paler with a streaked stomach and dark bars called patagial markings. These marks run between the shoulder and wrist on the underside of their wings. Usually they will have a tail that is pale on the bottom and a cinnamon-red color on the top. As they mature, they develop a more solid red color and the barring becomes thicker and darker.
Painted on a domestic white Turkey feather and shown in great detail, this feather represents the tail feather of mature Hawk.  This feather measures exactly 9-3/8" long and the quill is strong, solid and undamaged.

Our Warranty
All of our feathers are kept in a climate controlled environment.  We treat them for bugs and they are then frozen to eliminate any other pathology. You will receive our feathers bug free, scent free and dust free. The hand-painted feathers are always shipped in their protective plastic sleeves.

About the Artist
Mona has proudly served many Native American Nations for over 40 years. Descended from the Mikasuki Indian Tribe herself, she created wonderful works of art using only the finest natural material from mother earth. She has been painting with feathers since childhood. In her early years, she married an American fur trapper. Together, they have spent a splendid 38 years years building and growing a well-known large store that was originally established North of Kansas City. Because of the quality of their work, they have often been asked to make custom items for various tribes. She and her husband spent many waking hours doing in-depth research. They were determined to learn all that was needed to know in order to create all custom items according specific tribal colors, traditions and guidelines. Every item they created is made with great attention to natural detail. No single item they had ever sold in the store was imported, store bought or made of anything artificial. They hand-stripped prepared/stripped/skinned/plucked all sinew, leather, fur and feathers. They hand carved every single hair pipe bead from bones and horns and antlers. They have been trappers and fur traders for over 35 years. They commercially tan all of their own harvested furs and skins. They used only the fur they handled with their own hands to make their Native American works of Art. They love and live by Native American Tradition and they are happy to make these items available to those who will treasure them as they did.
